Vacancy Level 3 Nursery Practitioner at Sunbeam Family Services T/A Sugar Plum Tree Nursery

We require 4-6 experienced Nursery Practitioners who are able to work up to 25-30 hours per week in our baby room. The successful candidate will be expected to have experience as a key worker and be able to plan and implement EYFS planning which is suitable to the age range of children within the setting.

 Job Description: Level 3 Childcare Practitioner

Purpose of job:  To contribute a high standard of care for children within the setting working within with the principles of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to provide learning through play.

Report to: Provision Manager and Deputy Provision Manager

Responsible for: children, volunteers, students, apprentices and visitors

Main duties:

  1. To plan and implement EYFS planning which is suitable to the age range of children within the setting
  2. To keep accurate records of achievement for your key-children and ensure that all necessary documentation is completed and shared with parents/carers as appropriate
  3. Work in partnership with other staff members and offer them guidance and support
  4. Work alongside parents/carers of all children including those with special educational needs and encourage and promote inclusive practice within the setting
  5. Support all staff and as part of a team and lead by example of good practice
  6. Liaise with and work in partnership with parents/carers and other agencies/professionals as appropriate
  7. To attend ALL out of working hours activities, e.g. training, staff meetings, parents’ evenings, summer fair, Christmas party, etc.
  8. To be flexible within the working practices of the setting and being prepared to help where needed. This is including undertaking certain domestic jobs within the setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleaning of equipment, etc.
  9. Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the setting is fulfilled
  10. Recording accidents in the accident book. Ensuring that the manager is informed immediately of any accidents/injuries
  11. Look upon the setting as a ‘whole’, being constantly aware of the needs of the children and fellow staff members
  12. Set up and maintain a safe play/learning environment and ensure that all equipment/ toys/resources are in good working order, age appropriate, clean and regularly replenished where appropriate
  13. Escort and collect children to and from the setting taking them to or collecting them from other childcare providers, on trips or planned activities as appropriate
  14. Ensure each child is collected by someone known to the setting
  15. To respect the confidentiality of information received
  16. Work in accordance with the settings policies, procedures and routines at all times
  17. Facilitate the use of electronic data collection devises to record and evaluate children’s development and personal information in line with Data Protection legislation
  18. Act in a professional manner at all times
  19. To develop your role within the team, especially with regard to your position as a key-person
  20. Specific child care tasks:
    1. The preparation and completion of planned activities to suit the child’s stage of development and supporting child initiated play
    2. To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing
    3. Washing and changing children as required and carrying out other intimate care routines as appropriate
    4. Providing comfort and warmth to children helping to develop secure relationships and caring for a poorly child until collected by parent/carer
    5. Undertake all observation, assessment and planning tasks as appropriate to your role
  21. To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and stages of development
  22. To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times
  23. To strive for personal and professional continuous development through training, supervision and appraisal
  24. To undertake any other duties required of your role or requested by your manager
