Mindfulness is a way of intentionally paying attention to events in the present moment with an attitude of openess, flexibility and non-judgement.  Evidence-based training programmes in mindfulness have been developed for participants from a wide range of backgrounds and living or working in different contexts.  The benefits for mindfulness are well-researched and show that regularly practicing mindfulness can improve mental health and well-being and resilience to stress.

Mindfulness for teachers and schools staff has been shown to reduce staff stress and burnout, leading to less days off work and less feeling of being under pressure from too much to do and too little time.  Regular practice can improve coping skills, motivation, planning and problem solving and taking more time to relax.  For information on mindfulness training for school staff see http://holisticeducation.co.uk/mindfulness/training-for-adults/

Mindfulness for children and young people can improve mental health (reducing anxiety, depression and stress), learning, focus, attention, flexibility and creativity.  It can help develop social and emotional skills though greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, motivation and empathy. For information on mindfulness training for children and young people, see http://holisticeducation.co.uk/mindfulness/mindfulness-for-cyp/

Mindfulness for parents and carers can also help improve health and well-being and reduce stress and reactivity.  Importantly this has been shown to improve attachment, the bond of affection between the child and caregiver.  Click for mindfulness training for adults.
