Primary SBMs - Possible models for 30hr FEEE

Dear All,

I have spoken to a few schools regarding possible ways for the 30hr FEEE offer to be delivered to meet both parents and school needs. A number of schools have raised concerns over the potential disruption that 8.45am-2.45pm delivery for children taking up the 30hrs would have on the nursery (children leaving at different times) and the rest of the school (in terms of gate openings, impact on office, etc).

To clarify, schools can decide on offering one or two models for parents to take up their FEEE hrs - you do not have to offer total flexibility of offer to every parent! A few possible delivery models that schools may feel fit best with their current school hours are below - please note, the hours in brackets are for illustrations purposes and can be amended to meet individual school times:

  1. 6hrs  (9am-3pm) for 5 days = 30hrs
  2. 9hrs (9-6pm) for 3 days, plus a 3 hr session on the 4th day = 30hrs
  3. 6.45hrs (8.45-3.30) for 4 days, plus a 3 hr session on the 5th day = 30hrs

I would recommend that schools look at finding models of 30hr FEEE delivery that fit with a flexible 15hr FEEE delivery as this would allow the nursery staff to plan teaching and learning around 3 hour sessions. With any of the above options schools would be able to offer additional charged hours to be bought by parents - but only at the start and end of their FEEE hrs, you can not charge for additional hours in between FEEE sessions.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask

Kind regards
