If your school census return generates error 9999 or 2925 please ignore

This afternoon (17 January 2017) the Department for Education alerted local authorities, service children education providers and school’s MI suppliers of two minor issues identified in the validation software.  Please see the extract below:

Known Issues

Secondary admission appeals [only relevant for primary schools (including middle deemed primaries)]

  1. A minor issue has been identified in the validation software provided to software suppliers relating to the secondary admission appeals module. This issue might result in error 9999 being incorrectly triggered locally within your system where it is looking for secondary admission appeals for primary and middle deemed primary schools. Secondary admission appeals are not required for primary and middle deemed primary schools and therefore this error can be ignored within your system and will disappear when your return is loaded into COLLECT if not genuine. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience or confusion caused.

Error 2925 – Childcare not provided

  1. An issue has been identified in the validation software provided to software suppliers, which means that this validation is incorrectly triggering where there is a four-digit number entered for the number of childcare places (i.e. where childcare places is between 1000 and 9999). The number of childcare places recorded can be up to 9999 and any incorrect occurrences of validation 2925 will disappear when your return is loaded into COLLECT if not genuine.
